NotPod

One pod to rule them all. If ever I needed a reason not to assimilate, here it is. This article’s enough to put you right off: “You’re going to be nice about them, aren’t you. I mean there’s nothing nasty you could say. Is there?”

  1. Man, what a terrible piece. This guy rails against the snobbery of iPod fans when he’s clearly a far larger stick-in-his-ass elitist than they are. Mind you, most everyone in that article comes off as an idiot, and it’s nobody’s fault but their own… but man, was that article nowhere NEAR representative of the iPod culture I’ve seen. Maybe in Britain, but not here.

  2. Well, the one person I know who has one isn’t a smug git.

As for the idea of hocking your CDs once you’ve encoded all the tracks on them:

    1) who’s going to buy the CDs.
    2) what happens if there’s a hard disk crash and you don’t have the discs to fall back on?

  3. Yeah — also, racks of CDs are my single favorite piece of home furnishing on the planet. I’ve got almost all of mine ripped now, but there’s no way I’m ever gonna sell ’em. Maybe, like, five of them, but not all 600…
