The great pretender

The other day an elderly relative asked me:

“Do you know how to set up an e-mail address?”

I looked at him. I chewed my lip. I considered the time it would take to explain how things work in simple terms. And I said:

“No.”

And I did not feel guilty about lying. I felt relief.

    Every day with my father, who doesn’t speak English and would rather have me translate every thing than learn it. Grrr.
