What’s she up to?

I’ve been online 10+ years. I just registered my very first .nl domain.

Ooooh, scary…

  1. ough, ough do tell us what the URL is…..

  2. Naah, have to wait till I’ve got a proper plan and a team.

  3. Do you still have to have a Dutch host for that?

  4. Yes, it seems you do. I was pretty annoyed. And then I have to wait for them to send me their bill – I can’t pay with credit card. So it takes days to get the domain.

  5. Hm, not quite true. We register .nl domains (we are a member of the sidn) and host them in for example the US. The host has to follow some requirements but that’s all.

  6. the godmother van internet ben je dan . 10 jaar!

  7. 10 years!?
    euhm… w00t? :-)

  8. This domain registration thing is stupid. Now I have to sign a form and send or fax it back to the hosting company, otherwise they can’t register it for me. Fuck sake.

  9. @Merel: online since October 1993.

If I remember correctly, I think IJsbrand has been online longer than that.

  10. … aaaand they don’t accept a p.o. box, must give my street address. Now they’re sending me a form and when I sign that and send it back they will FINALLY register my bloody domain. This is insane.

  11. Back in ’97 I was working for a “new media” company who already owned the .com version of their name and wanted to register the .ca. I contacted the .ca registrar and they faxed me an 11 page document that had to be partially completed ny the legal dept. These days it’s a bit easier but still not as simple as it should be.

  12. … the continuing saga. They got my name wrong on the form they sent.

  13. how hard is to to spell “Caroline von B”? [<:
