Dutch National Image Archive
500.000 pictures taken between 1880 and 1990 are searchable in the Dutch National Archive Image Bank.
A simple search on ‘Sinatra’ retrieves this fabulous lot, while men over 40 might appreciate the Audrey Hepburn collection.
Finally, one for the ladies.

This is pretty cool. Yay for instant big thumbnail results.
the ladies’ man was a customer of my mother’s art gallery in the early 90s… was still looking good then too.
Rutger is a national treasure. Such a pity we lost him to Hellywood, he could have done good work over here.

Caroline, do you happen to know what the dutch laws are like around copyright? How far back can you go and freely do stuff with the images in the gallery (in the US it would be anything pre-1923 would be fair game)?
I don’t know what our laws are, exactly. This website says it’s ok to print these lo-res images for personal use, but for any other use you have to contact them.
Any Dutch lawyers reading this?
