But bootlegs are more fun!

· Comments (5)

From MTV review of first (messy) Pixies concert in twelve years:

"The Pixies finished with a seven-song encore, slapping hands with fans as they left the stage. After the show, hundreds of fans loitered upstairs at the venue to await the arrival of recordings of the night's performance. Using on-the-spot recording and duplication technology, the New York-based company Disclive is producing limited-edition CDs of each night's performance, available 20 minutes post-wrap."

Einstuerzende Neubauten are doing the same thing on their current tour. This is the new standard. Are you listening, U2?

You'd need a TREMENDOUS operation to do arena or stadium-sized shows with this kind of technology... I don't doubt that these companies would be willing to take the challenge on, but I'm willing to bet U2 would probably balk when they saw the amount it would cost to bring in that much hardware, regardless of how much it could net them in disc sales.

I suppose so. But they could solve it by selling them through their website and making them ludicrously expensive.

I like the fact that they (the Pixies) will be doing this at Coachella. That combined with the fact that I now live in California and going to Coachella is on the agenda.

I didn't manage to get tickets to see Pixies live anywhere.

Not that I'm *sulking* or anything.

Vaughan, don't give up - there's *always* tickets. I've never not gone to a gig I wanted to see just because I didn't have a ticket. Sometimes bands sell tickets at the door to piss off the scalpers. Sometimes you find a fan with a ticket to spare. Sometimes you get a reasonable price off a scalper. One time I simply found a ticket on the floor. Seriously.
