Ready for the push again
And so the madness begins, again: U2 Tour dates announced.
Tomorrow morning 10 AM, pre-sales for some of these concerts start. Hundreds of hardcore fans will be going insane, click-click-clicking, trying to score tickets (registered fans are allowed 2 to 4 tickets for one single show) through the abominable Ticketmaster sites. I'm sad to say they've taken over handling in my part of the world too.
The object of the operation? Get tickets that allow you inside the oval. In the USA, these are the cheapest tickets. What the pricing in Europe will be, I'm not sure yet.
I had planned a trip to IKEA today, for CD cases and a dining table, but on second thought that money will be needed to fund this year's U2 trek: Brussels, Gelsenkirchen, London, Paris, Amsterdam and maybe more. New York, perhaps, in November or so.
Looks like my 2005 is all mapped out.

Need a ride? :-P
I just hate the idea of having to whore myself for tickets though.

New York! Yes! Finally! You must come. Yes. Yes.
I’m bracing myself. The fan community’s gonna turn really nasty once the shows start selling out and people who coughed up for U2.com don’t end up with tickets…

The fan community has always been nasty ;-)

I still find U2 fans are… I dunno, more mob like and fanatic than any other group of fans I’ve ever met… But I’m kind of with Chris… They’re even more nasty now.

Take it from me, any very large fan community gets nasty. The animosity among certain groups of Buffy/Angel fans is unbelievable, one step beyond anything I’ve seen among U2 fans. And fans of actors can get very, very scary.

If you go to NYC, I would try to come down there, too (not for the concert, but to see you). Have they even announced dates into that part of the year? Or are you just speculating…
And if you decide to come to Boston, you know you have a place to stay.

@ModSue: The revised Leg 3 of the tour hasn’t been announced yet (and hasn’t leaked yet either) The original routing included several gigs in the New York area.

Hmmmm I dunno. £40+booking for Hampden, Glasgow. A big stadium.
I’m only paying £30 all in to see REM at Loch Lomond in glorious surroundings.
Might have to pass… much as it pains me to do so but it’s just too expensive. Maybe.
