I only got one: I can’t buy from any other shop than the Dutch one.
Yes, I can *see* all the other shops, but they’re no bloody use to me if I can’t buy from them.
It’s an endless source of frustration. The new U2 single is available from iTunes USA, but not even up for pre-order in the Dutch shop. I am bombarded with promos for Dutch artists, mostly pretty middle of the road, that I don’t listen to and will never want to listen to. Most of the websites I read are English or American. When they link to songs on iTunes, I get a ‘not available in your shop’ error message when I click on the links.
It’s a shit experience and not very user friendly. And it’s so easy to ‘fix’! It’s not perfect, but if they didn’t show me the other shops and if I wasn’t aware the other countries’ shops offer a different range, it wouldn’t be half as frustrating. Don’t dangle the carrot.
Country borders are so last century. When are music rights and laws going to reflect the fact that I am and always have been a world citizen?
Dammit – I left a comment, but it’s on the wrong post….
You wrote: “I’ve recently switched from iTunes to Amazon for downloads – because Amazon downloads are a) cheaper, b) higher bitrate, c) DRM-free MP3s. (And there’s also a clever little thingy that auto-adds them to your iTunes library.) I’ll only use iTunes in cases of dire need…”
And I can’t buy from Amazon either, we don’t have Amazon in the Netherlands.
Fun.
