Thanks for the Bjork link. The brass on 'Hunter' and 'All is full of Love' are beautiful additions. Gave me little frissons. A slightly understated version of 'Pagan Poetry', which is quite refreshing.

The le Brocquy stuff is great, thanks. I recognise the Morrigan one (crow queen) from some reading I did last year. but never paid much attention to the artist or the possibility of other work.

I wasn't too keen on the previous two albums, I liked them but I did find them lacking (and as you said forgettable). I absolutely love No Line on the Horizon: everything meshes so well. I love picking out how these are u2 songs, I hear Edge's signature guitar and Adam's throbbing bass. And I am really glad they let the rhythm section come out to play. Its just marvelous.

I especially love the feel of the first 3 songs on the album, they really do make a great start to the feel of the entire record. I listen to the entire album every day, usually multiple times through the day, and it feels like home to me.

Phil Coulter wrote Scorn Not His Simplicity for his son who had Down Syndrome. Sineads version is indeed wonderful but nothing can beat Luke Kelly and the Dubliners- hardened gnarled pint swilling creatures of the night softening their tone to sing lovingly of their friends child.
Interestingly I spoke to Phil Coulter late last year about recording a version to benefit Down Syndrome Dublin. Unfortunately with single sales so low you wonder if there is monetary value in pursuing this form of fundraiser...

I think she has great moments where she can draw you into her performance completely, but then sometimes I just don't believe her - it looks too much like acting. And while I didn't *like* the character Buffy for instance, I always believed SMG's performance 100%.
