Joss Whedon, in an impassioned post on community weblog Whedonesque.com, condemns the underlying attitude that led to the ‘honour-killing’ of Dua Khalil in Iraq and films such as the upcoming torture-porn film Captivity in the U.S.A.
He writes: ‘It’s no longer enough to shake our heads and make concerned grimaces at the news. True enlightened activism is the only thing that can save humanity from itself.’

Taken near the start of our road trip which took us from Nottingham to Newcastle to the Lake District, Manchester, Leeds and Nottingham via Sheffield. It was freezing cold up there near the Angel, but what a lovely and relaxing break it turned out to be.

I’m always away when the good stuff happens at Whedonesque. Joss is posting left right and centre and USA Today ranks the Whedonesque community #70 in the top 100 people of 2004.
70. The Whedonesque gang. It’s hard for some people to understand my diehard affection for Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer— which is why it’s so comforting to visit Whedonesque.com each day, where piles of links are posted by my fellow Joss Whedon obsessives. If you secretly care about the new Spike action figure or Joyce Summers’ Advil commercial, I’ll see you there.
And here’s the thread that goes with it.

In an effort to fully enjoy what may well be the last few hours of the Buffyverse, I’m going spoiler free for Angel. (Sorry, Simon, you’re on your own at the Wh’esque.) I only vaguely knew the plot of last night’s funny and creepy ‘Smile Time’ (S5×14, hey wanna see some pretty pics?), which made it just so much more… well, funny. And creepy. The teaser alone had me gasping.

In other TV commentary, a big big ‘heeeee’ for the poster at TWOP who coined ‘Ambercrombie and Bitch’ for this season’s May/December ’ship between The O.C.’s Luke and Auntie Julie. And does anyone really care about what happens to Ryan and Melissa? I think not. It’s all about the Cohens.
And also: bye bye Oliver. Good riddance.
